Tax Credits and State Rebates
- The IRS provides for a 30% Federal Tax Credit for all commercial installations of
Renewable Energy.
- The IRS also allows for a 5 year depreciation deduction on all commercial installations
of Renewable Energy.
- American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 allows first year 50% bonus depreciation of
all commercial installations of 2009 and 2010
- The State of Massachusetts provides rebates for all commercial installations of
solar photovoltaic systems. This rebate is paid through the Mass Technology Collaborative
and the rebate must be approved prior to the installation. The current rebate levels
for non-residential PV systems are:
- $3.15/watt for the first 25 kW of system capacity
- $3.00/watt for the next 75 kW of system capacity
- $2.00/watt for the next 100 kW of system capacity
- $1.40/watt for the next 300 kW of system capacity
- Adder for Massachusetts company components: $0.15/watt
- Adder for public buildings: $1.00/watt
